Wimberley is a bachelorette dream: wineries, swimming holes, and a whole house feel. Here is how to plan a weekend that actually runs smoothly.
Wimberley is close to a perfect bachelorette destination: whole house rentals with room for twelve, wineries fifteen minutes away, swimming holes in the summer, and a town square that closes at a civilised hour. The catch is that everything here needs booking, and the weekends that fall apart are the ones planned like a city trip.
Wimberley runs on short term rentals rather than hotels, and the house sets everything else. A place with a big kitchen, a pool and enough bedrooms that nobody sleeps on a sofa is the difference between a weekend and an endurance event. Book it first and build around it.
Two things to check before you commit. Where it actually is, because a house on the Devil's Backbone is beautiful and twenty five minutes from the square, and whether the drive is gated or unpaved, which matters when a vehicle comes to collect twelve people at six in the evening.
People land at different times and the first night is always later than planned. Groceries and a charcuterie board at the house beat a restaurant reservation that half the group misses. If you want one outing, keep it to the square: dinner, a drink, and an early night that nobody will regret on Saturday.
This is the wine day. Three stops, five hours, back at the house by late afternoon with time to change before dinner. Wimberley and Driftwood tasting rooms are ten to twenty five minutes apart, which is what makes this town work for a group. Book the rooms in advance, because most of them require reservations for six or more.
If your group would rather swim than taste, both Blue Hole and Jacob's Well require reservations in the swimming season and they sell out well ahead. That is not a detail to discover on the morning.
Breakfast at the house, a walk around the square, and a departure that accounts for an hour to Austin or an hour and a half to San Antonio, plus airport time. Book the airport run before the weekend, not on Sunday morning.

If the group rents a large SUV or a fourteen seat van for the weekend anyway, a designated driver in your own vehicle covers everyone for one flat price from $250 for five hours. If not, a van with a driver is the simpler answer. Either way, gratuity is added automatically at six guests or more, so build it into what you collect from everybody at the start.
April, May, October and early November are the good ones: mild weather, wineries at their best, and the river still worth swimming in during the warmer half. July and August are hot enough that the plan should be built around water and shade. Winter is quiet, cheap and genuinely lovely if your group would rather sit by a fire than queue anywhere.
Whatever weekend you pick, book the house first, then the driving, then the tastings. In that order, because each one narrows the next.
Two nights is the sweet spot. Friday to Sunday gives you one full day for wineries or the river, an evening out, and a slow morning to leave on. Three nights works if people are flying in from far away, but the middle day tends to become a rest day, which is not a criticism.

Yes, in the swimming season, and they sell out ahead of time. Both are managed sites with limited capacity rather than places you wander into. Check and book as soon as your dates are set, because it is the one Wimberley plan that cannot be fixed on the day.
Not by rideshare. Coverage is thin and it disappears at night, which is exactly when a group needs it. Groups either book a van with a driver, or rent a large vehicle and book a designated driver to take the wheel of it, which starts at $250 for a five hour block for the whole group and splits well across twelve people.
The house is the biggest line and it moves with the season and the size of the group. After that, budget for tastings at around $25 a head per stop, one booked dinner, groceries, and the transport split across the group. Splitting a group price rather than paying per person is what keeps this town affordable for a bachelorette.
